CHANDIGARH: Blaming the ruling BJP for large-scale violence in the state, former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday demanded that a judicial commission headed by a sitting Supreme Court judge be appointed to conduct a probe.

Speaking to jour nalists, Hooda said that Manohar Lal Khattar regime had proved to be the most ineffective government in the past 50 years. “This government has failed on all fronts,’’ he said.

Hooda said that an in-depth probe is required to know how a peaceful agitation suddenly turned violent. “Who all were behind this conspiracy? A number of video clips featuring BJP MLAs and ministers are in circulation and need to be investigated,’’ the former CM said.

When asked about the issuance of arrest warrants against his political aide Prof Virender, the former CM said the former has applied for an anticipatory bail and would cooperate as per the law.

The Congress leader sought the dismissal of the BJP government and imposition of President’s rule in Haryana as the state government failed to control violence during quota stir. Referring to insinuations of the involvement of Congress leaders in the violence at Rohtak, Hooda said: “Main apne logon ko agnipariksha dene ko tayyar hoon. I had remained in the power for close to a decade. My tenure also saw agitations and protests but riots never took place,” he said.
