We are often faced with problems that we wish to escape from. However, even though solving problems might not be in our control, it is important to remember that we cannot run away from them, and instead must learn to face them. Here

are some points you should keep in mind to deal with problems.

1 Be realistic: It is unrealistic to expect a problem-free life. Problems form an inherent part of our lives. Therefore, we must be realistic in our approach.

2 Adopt a problem-solving approach: Define the problem, identify the factors contributing towards it, and then think of the alternative ways of dealing with the problem. Implement the solution, evaluate the problem and, if not yet solved, try implementing another alternative solution.

3 Focus on what is in your control: Instead of wondering ‘why me’ each time you face a problem, shift the focus to what you can actually do about the problem. Don’t spend time lamenting your fate or expecting things to change.

4 Brainstorm: Come up with new ways of dealing with a particular problem. Share your problem with others, as talking about it often helps you to gain and another’s perspective and learn from his or her experience. It also helps reinforce the fact in your mind that you are not alone in dealing with a situation.

5 Be prepared: Problems are an inherent part of our lives. Always be ready to face whatever life throws your way and be equipped with the necessary skills to face and overcome problems effectively.

6 Do not give up: Never lose hope. Try to build your tolerance capabilities to be able to accept the problem with time. Don’t let your problems have an adverse impact on your life.
