Vij for VB inquiry into Mewat medical college irregulari­ties

CHANDIGARH: Haryana health minister Anil Vij assured the House on Thursday that he would get the alleged irregulari­ties in the medical college in Mewat investigat­ed into by the state vigilance bureau.

Replying to a question by INLD MLA Zakir Hussain pertaining to alleged large-scale corruption and embezzleme­nt of funds in the college, Vij said the government would not spare the guilty and would get entire functionin­g of the college, since the laying of the foundation stone to this date, investigat­ed into. To another question, Vij said generator sets would be installed in all the primary health centers and community health centers to ensure uninterrup­ted supply of power in the state. Finance minister Ca pt Abhimanyu informed the House that five people had been booked, including a minister, two chief parliament­ary secretarie­s and as many MLAs of the previous Congress government for alleged corruption in CLU cases.

Replying to a question by leader of Opposition Abhay Chautala, he said cases had been registered against former health minister Rao Narender Singh, two CPSs, namely Ram Kishan Fauji and Vinod Bhayana, and MLAs Jarnail Singh and MLA Naresh Selwal and the investigat­ion was on. However, when Abhay asked why was the BJP government dragging its feet like the previous Congress government, Capt Abhimanyu affirmed the government commitment to get the cases thoroughly investigat­ed and take appropriat­e action against the guilty. NEW WAKF BOARD LAW

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the government would write to the Centre to consider bringing in an amendment in the Wakf Board law, so that people living and running small businesses from its land, did not get displaced. Abhay had sought an amendment in the said law which was amended by the previous UPA government. Khattar also assured the House that if required the assembly could pass a resolution in the context.
