NEW DELHI: Students applying to Delhi University this year won’t have to stand in long queues to submit their admission fees as they can now submit it online.

DU’s admissions that will be fully online will begin from May 24.

“Students, who qualify for admission based on the cut-off, will submit admission fee online using the university website. All students fill an online centralised registration form and get a unique registration number. Using the same number they can submit fee online,” said Ajay Bhagi, member of the admission committee.

Till last year, successful applicants had to go to the college concerned and submit the admission fee after getting academic and identity documents verified from the college admission committee.

Many students had com- plained about not being able to submit fee on time due to the long queues.

The decision was taken recently by a 24-member admission committee, consisting of academic, executive council members, principals and university representative.

The decisions by the admission committee will now be forwarded to the vice-chancellor for final approval.

There are 54,000 undergraduate seats available in around 70 colle ges under the university.

The admission committee said after a student got her documents verified from the college, the institute would confirm the admission and submit the registration number of the students in the online system.

“The students will then log on to the university website and make online payment and their admission will be confirmed,” said Nachiketa Singh, member of the admission committee.
