MANSA: The police have booked a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who is also state president of the ex-servicemen wing of the party, Jeevan Singh and his 17-year-old son for molestation after around 60 people from Kotla Kalan village submitted a complaint to the police against them.

SHO Buta Singh said, “the father-son duo have been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. His son studies in the local government school where he used to misbehave with the female staff.”

The government school principal, where Jeevan’s son studies, confirmed the allegations. “He repeatedly harassed the female staff of our school. Even his father Jeevan Singh failed to restrict him despite several reminders. We had complained to the panchayat of our village which later approached the police,” said Jeet Singh.

Sarpanch of the village and SAD leader Sukhchain Singh, who got the complaint registered, alleged that the AAP leader used to harass people. “We had repeatedly got complaints against Jeevan’s son and after proper consultation with the aggrieved family we approached the police.”

Lawyer and AAP leader Gurlabh Singh said that the party was informed about Jeevan’s behaviour, but the party high command ignored it and he was elected as the president of ex-servicemen wing of the party. Jeevan Singh, however, denied the charges and said that he was unaware of any case and the police might have booked his namesake, who also resides in the same village.
