Khattar govt introduces moral education from Classes 6 to 12
KURUKSHETRA: The BJP-led Haryana government introduced moral education in the curriculum for the students of Classes 6 to 12 on Tuesday.
A state-level function was organised in Bhagwat Gita Auditorium of the Kurukshetra University in this regard. It was attended by Himachal Pradesh governor Acharya Dev Vrat, Haryana assembly speaker Kanwar Pal, state education minister Ram Bilas Sharma, agriculture minister OP Dhankar, acharya Balkrishna from yoga guru Ramdev’s Patanjali Vidyapeeth , Swami Gyananand, among others.
Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, who was to be the chief guest of the occasion, did not turn up.
Acharya Dev Vrat said that moral education is the need of the hour and children should learn it in order to become responsible citizens. Education minister Ram Bilas Sharma, who released the book on moral education, said, “People have objected to the move, but we have decided to teach moral values to the children. The subject has not just inducted in the syllabus, but it will also be taught with devotion.”
The Haryana government has prepared a curriculum in collaboration with social organisations, educationists and senior officers of education and allied departments.
TEACHINGS OF BHAGAVAD GITA INCLUDED
The books launched at the function have teachings of Bhagavad Gita. The education minister, however, did not speak about the content of the books that had pictures of Hindu mythology on their covers.
People have objected to the move (introduction of moral education), but we have decided to go ahead with the decision. The subject has not just been inducted in the syllabus, but it will also be taught with devotion.
