High alert in Pathankot after intel input from J-K
PATHANKOT: Police have been put on a high alert after intelligence inputs from Jammu and Kashmir that some militants were trying to sneak into Punjab through road. Confirming the intelligence inputs provided by J&K Police, Pathankot senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rakesh Kaushal said checking has been intensified at Madhopur and Kathlore, the Punjab-J&K border points.
He said the input was not specific and there was no information about type of the vehicle the militants may be using or their number. “Still we cannot take the input lightly, so, we have strengthened the security on our side. We will frisk every vehicle coming from J&K,” he said. LETTER IN URDU SENDS COPS INTO A TIZZY
A letter found on Tuesday morning at a Dinanagar temple, written in fractured Urdu and warning of terror attacks similar to last year, has sent the cops in a tizzy.
Assistant superintendent of police, Dinanagar, Surinder Lamba, said they were investigating the matter and trying to ascertain the veracity of the content and the source.
Gurdaspur senior superintendent of police JS Hundal said it could be an act of some mischievous elements, but said they were alert and investigating the matter.
The letter was seen at the Thakurdwara temple by some devotees early morning and it was handed over to the police.
