CHANDIGARH: Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, on Wednesday clarified that the university is only seeking preferences of colleges from candidates who had cleared the Pre-Medical Entrance Test (PMET)-2016 conducted by it. The rest of the stages involved in the counselling, which includes allotment of seats and submission of fee, will be notified later, stated a public notice uploaded on the varsity’s website on Wednesday evening.

BFUHS vice-chancellor (V-C) Dr Raj Bahadur said the last date for receiving the preferences will also be decided later. “Right now the candidates only need to send in the choice of colleges,” he said.

The university had earlier informed the candidates that the last date of receiving preferences was July 11 while the allotment list was to be out on July 15. The deadline to deposit fee was July 22. “The new dates will be notified later,” said the V-C.

Raj Bahadur said initialy the counselling schedule had been put on the website to retain the sanctity of the prospectus. “When the prospectus was printed, we were not aware that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)2016 would take place in two phases. Now, we have to take into account NEET-2, which is taking place on July 24, and the university is bound to factor in that several candidates who have appeared for the PMET will also appear for the NEET-2.”
