Jat leaders to start fresh stir from Jan 29
Demand quashing of cases against Jat youths during agitation in Feb; AIJASS to campaign against BJP in UP election
ROHTAK: The All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) on Friday announced to launch fresh agitations from January 29 across Haryana to press their demands of reservation.
They also demanded quashing of cases registered against Jat youths during the violent agitations in February, during which at least 30 people were killed and property worth hundreds of crore was vandalised.
AIJASS national president Yashpal Malik, made this announcement from the Chhotu Ram Memorial in Sampla on Friday. He said the samiti will begin a ‘Jat Nyay Yatra’ (Jat justice rally) from Friday, wherein their representatives will travel across the state and make people aware of their planned agitation.
He added that on January 15, a core committee meeting of the AIJASS will be held to form teams to campaign against the

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
“The BJP has betrayed us multiple times by not fulfilling our demands...It was their conspiracy that February’s movement turned violent. Their leaders have been using foul language against the Jat community. They will pay for all this in the upcoming assembly elections when Jats will campaign against them wherever they can,” Malik said.
“In the same meeting we will also decide the locations in all districts of Haryana where we will stage dharnas from January 29. We have chosen this date because it is closer to the assembly elections and the Parliamentary session. We want the parliamentarians to represent our voice in the Parliament. Failing which, they will face the community’s ire in future,” said Malik.
The stir planned in January will be the second since unprecedented violence rocked the state earlier in February this year.
A second attempt to stage similar dharnas in June received lukewarm response throughout the state, except in Rohtak. It was called off peacefully after 20 days.
The Jat leader said the dharnas in January will continue until the government accepts all their demands. “Our protest will be peaceful. However, if the government uses force then things may turn ugly,” he said.
