MOGA: In a setback to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Dr Ranjodh Singh, who was abruptly dropped by the party after fielding him from the Dharamkot constituency, joined the Congress on Friday.

The move comes a month after Ranjodh was replaced by the AAP with Daljit Singh Sadarpura, 42, a graduate and a progressive farmer.

Dr Ranjodh organised a ‘show of strength’ rally on Friday, in support to the Congress candidate Sukhjit Singh Kaka Lohgarh at his hospital and formally announced to support the Congress. More than 300 people participated in the rally.

Ranjodh, talking to HT while confirming to have joined the Congress, said that he wasted time in the AAP which has shown its colours in allocating tickets.

“The AAP was claiming to field common people, but the party has even crossed the other parties in choosing rich candidates for the upcoming assembly elections,” he said.

He said that the AAP was no more the common people’s party as it has been spending huge money on advertisements and campaigning.

“The AAP has made the campaign so costly that it has been asking its candidates to spend all the expenditure including advertisements and bus expenses from their own pockets which is not possible for the common people,” he said.

“There is no AAP leader in Punjab, from Ghuggi to Bhagwant Mann, nobody has the right to take any decision without the permission of the dictator (Arvind Kejriwal), who has no knowledge about the state,” he said.

Meanwhile, while addressing the rally, Ranjodh requested the Congress to make Punjab drug-free, provide employment and give good education infrastructure in the state.
