MOGA: Playing the panthic card, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday assured exemplary punishment to those involved in the incidents of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib.

Kejriwal said this while addressing the AAP’s inquilab rally in Dharamkot town of the district in support of party candidate Daljit Singh Sadarpura for the assembly election to be held on February 4.

Dharamkot has been an Akali-dominated constituency. Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal handed over the mic to former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur who joined the AAP on Tuesday, apparently to make connect with the voters. Bhaur had resigned from all SGPC posts in October 2015 in protest against the sacrilege incidents.

Kejriwal said the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Congress, which call themselves as ‘panthic’ parties, have failed to arrest the sacrilege culprits more than a year after the incidents.

Navdeep Sangha, who recently resigned from SAD after he was denied ticket and Gurpreet Singh Sachdeva, a BJP councillor from Moga, joined the AAP at the rally.
