THE HARYANA FINANCE MINISTER SAID DEALERS HAVING AN ANNUAL TURNOVER OF UP TO ₹20 LAKH WILL NOT COME UNDER THE AMBIT OF THE SINGLE TAXATION SYSTEM

CHANDIGARH: Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu on Wednesday said that “most states” — including Haryana — had agreed to introduce the goods and services tax (GST), with effect from July 1, 2017.

Addressing newspersons here on Wednesday, Captain Abhimanyu said that as per the amendment in the constitution, the GST had to be implemented before September 16, 2017.

In reply to a question regarding whether the state government will suffer any loss with the introduction of GST, he said it will not be so as the state will get compensation at a rate of 14 % of the revenue for 2015-16.

This will be admissible for five years.

The state finance minister said dealers having an annual turnover of upto ₹20 lakh will not come under the ambit of goods and services tax.

In case of dealers having an annual turnover between ₹20 lakh and ₹1.5 crore, 90 % of them will be evaluated by officers of the concerned state government and the remaining 10 % by officers of the central government.

In case of firms that have an annual turnover of more than ₹1.5 crore, officers from the central as well as the state governments will evaluate them in a ratio of 50:50.

HARYANA BUDGET IN FEBRUARY-END

The finance minister said that Haryana’s budget for the year 2017-18 was likely be presented in the state assembly by the end of February.

Abhimanyu further said that generally the budget is presented 15 to 20 days after the Union budget and that the Haryana parliamentary affairs minister Ram Bilas Sharma will discuss the issue with the speaker of the assembly and representatives of political parties and only then will a date be finalised.

‘HOODA DOES POLITICS OF BLOOD’

Regarding the Jat stir, he accused former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda of indulging in “politics of blood and threat” and vitiating the atmosphere in the state.

He also took strong exception to the remarks of Hooda’s son, Congress MP from Rohtak Deepender Singh Hooda, against chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in which he had said that Manohar Lal Khattar will be returned from where he had come.

He said that the language used by MP reflected the culture and “sanskars” given by a father to his son.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda had played with the lives of the people from ‘Meham Kand’ to ‘Kandela Kand’ for his political gains and he was also responsible for the death of 30 youths during the Jat reservation agitation, he added.
