Cop among 3 held in multi-crore job scam

DUPED MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE, COLLECTED CRORES ON PRETEXT OF GIVING JOBS IN PUNJAB POLICE, OTHER DEPTS

AMRITSAR: The Special Task Force (STF) of Punjab Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a multi-crore job scam with the arrest of three people, including a police constable.

Those arrested have been identified as Harcharan Singh alias Herry and Daljit Singh of Batala, and Gurpreet Singh of Amritsar, who is a constable with the Amritsar rural police, said Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, inspector general of police and the head of the STF.

"During the investigat­ions, It was found that this gang was working in close associatio­n with some inter-state gangsters. They duped more than hundred people from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi and collected crores of rupees from them on the pretext of giving them jobs in the Punjab Police and other government department­s," said Singh.

He said further investigat­ions are on and more arrests can’t be ruled out.
