HARYANA GOVT TO RUN NEW POLYTECHNICS IN PPP MODE
CHANDIGARH: In order to bring technical education in sync with the industry demand, Haryana government has decided to run new polytechnics in public private partnership (PPP) mode in collaboration with the leading industrial houses.
The official release on Thursday said the new polytechnics will turn out ‘industry-ready’ students and ensure 100% placement. It was also informed that a new scheme is being prepared for the meritorious, but poor, students desirous of getting education in private technical institutes of their choice.
Under the scheme, 50% fees will be reimbursed by the state government while 50% will be contributed by the institute under the corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The release said these decisions were taken at a meeting of the technical education department held under the chairmanship of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, here, in which it was also decided to invite reputed industrial houses to run these polytechnics by forming societies.
While the state government will make infrastructure and building available, the polytechnics will be run by these societies, chairpersons of which will be from the industrial houses. To ensure participation of the panchayati raj institutions, chairpersons of zila parishads concerned will also be made members.
As many as 13 new polytechnics are being constructed in the state, out of which six would be run by the state government and the remaining will be managed by such societies. These polytechnics are being set up at Indri and Malab (Nuh), Mandkola in Palwal district, Chhapar (Bhiwani), Nanakpur (Panchkula), Dhamlawas (Rewari) and Sector 26, Panchkula.
As many as 28 government polytechnics are running in the state and 10 new institutes are under construction.
