FOR SAFER ROADS

This refers to the editorial, ‘Slow and Steady does it’ (Feb 20). Despite laws to prevent road accidents, there are so fatal ones daily. As a 12-year-old school student, I express my gratitude to the government for finally making road accidents a priority by preventing overspeeding of vehicles on highways. But will it accomplish much? Unlikely, because the government has forgotten that the three monsters behind road accidents. They are lack of adherence to traffic rules, road rage and driving under the influence of alcohol.
