Sweetshop owner wins ₹1.5-cr lottery

HISAR It was indeed a lucky day for a sweetshop owner when got the news of winning a ₹1.5 crore lottery on Monday evening. A resident of Dayyar village of district Fatehabad, he has won the Lohri bumper lottery of Punjab state lotteries. Azad Singh, who runs a small sweets shop near the bus-stand in Dayyar village had purchased the ticket for the first time from Sirsa.

"I live with my brother and his wife in a kuccha house. Condition of the family was very bad. A call on Monday changed my life forever," Azad Singh said.

"It is for the first time that I bought a lottery ticket. I had expected to win a small prize. But now with God's grace, I have won a big amount and will be able to handle all responsibi­lities as well," Singh added.

"I will purchase a good house, and do social work," he said.
