Khattar announces ₹50-lakh relief for Maj Dahiya’s family
chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday announced an assistance of Rs 50 lakh for the members of the bereaved family of martyr Maj Satish Dahiya, who laid down his life during an encounter with militants in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.
He also announced construction of a road from Nangal Nunia village to Banihari and naming it after the martyr, besides naming the government college, Nangal Chaudhary after him. Khattar also announced a government job for Sujata Devi, widow of the martyr. He also announced that a ‘vyayamshala’ would be established at Banihari after Maj Dahiya.
Paying tributes to the martyr during a condolence meeting held at Banihari in Mahendergarh district, he said Maj Dahiya had brought pride to the entire state with his supreme sacrifice and he would live on in the hearts of the people of the state through his brave exploits.
Education minister Ram Bilas Sharma, agriculture minister O PD hank ar ,, Ha ryan aV id han Sabha deputy speaker Santosh Yadav, member of parliament Dharambir Singh and several MLAs also expressed their condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
Maj Dahiya is survived by wife Sujata Devi and daughter Priya, aged two-and-a-half years.
