President honours Everest climber from Haryana

CHANDIGARH: President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday conferred ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar’ on Sunita Singh Choken, the youngest girl of Haryana to have scaled the Mount Everest by 2011.

A spokesman for the Haryana women and child development department said that Sunita was also the brand ambassador of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign in Rewari district.

Sunita Choken worked to create awareness for eradicating child marriage in society, he said. HTC
