PGIMS student alleges molestation on campus
The girl, a B Pharma student, accuses an examiner and his aide of hatching a conspiracy to frame her in a case of unfair means
ROHTAK: An exam superintendent and stationary distributor at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, have been booked under charges of molestation and criminal conspiracy on complaint of a final year B.Pharma student on Sunday.
The student, belonging to a Sonepat village, alleged that the duo hatched a conspiracy to register an unfair means case (UMC) against her in order to build pressure and molest her without any trouble.
In her complaint, the student stated that on June 14, she entered the examination hall after being properly frisked by the invigilators at the gate.
Soon after taking her seat in the exam hall, she wrote a difficult equation on her question paper fearing she might forget it later.
“For the equation written on my roll number, exam superintendent Devender registered a UMC case against me without letting me give any explanation,” she stated.
The victim said when she met Devender after exam, he asked her to meet stationary distributor Harpal, who called her at a secluded place to resolve the problem but molested her instead.
The victim said she managed to run away, but kept getting calls from Harpal, who told her that he would arrange a meeting with the exam superintendent to resolve the issue if she meets him alone again.
“It seems to be a conspiracy of the duo. I have been topping exams for the past three years. If I had to cheat, why would I write it on my roll number that was placed openly on my desk,” the victim stated.
Based on her complaint, the police registered a case against Devender and Harpal under Sections 120B (punishment for criminal conspiracy), 354A (sexual harassment) and 354D (stalking) at PGIMS police station. Station house officer(SHO) Rakesh Saini said the victim’s statement is yet to be recorded and the two accused have been served notices to join the investigation.
