2 killed, 10 hurt after car rams into crowd at fair in Amritsar
AMRITSAR: In a tragic mishap, two people were killed and around a dozen injured after the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze lost control, hitting an Esteem and an i-20 before ramming into the crowd that had come to see the annual mela Baba Darshan Singh in Kale Ghanupur village of Amritsar on national highway-1.
Those dead are Vandana Paytal and Ranjeet Kaur. A child, who remains unidentified, is critical.
The driver of the Cruze has been taken to the Chhehertta police station.
The details of the accident were not clear till the filing of the report.
Deputy commissioner of police Jagmohan Singh said, “Preliminary details are that an uncontrolled car hit vehicles and later entered a gathering. We are verifying the names of the injured.”
