Exposed for sponsoring terrorism, Pak now firing at villagers: J&K deputy CM
JAMMU: Deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Nirmal Kumar Singh, on Friday, said that after being exposed before the international community for sponsoring terrorism in the state, Pakistan has now started firing at unarmed villagers and security personnel at the Indo-Pak border. He added that Pakistan will “face more heat” in the coming days.
Singh was responding to media queries after the wreath laying ceremony of BSF constable Brijendra Bahadur Singh who was killed in firing from Pakistan on Friday.
“Pakistan has been isolated and exposed before the international community. It has now become desperate and has thus started firing at unarmed villagers and at our security personnel, without any provocation,” he said.
He claimed that the killing of Abu Qasim (Ismail) on Thursday was a “big jolt” for Pakistan. “His killing has broken Pakistan’s backbone,” Singh said, attributing Friday’s firing on BSF posts and border villages in Arnia to it.
“Pakistan must learn its lesson. If it fails to do so, we will make it learn,” he said
The deputy CM said that during the recent visit of Union home minister Rajnath Singh to the border areas in Nowshera, the home minister “had given clear instructions” to security forces to retaliate strongly against firing from Pakistan.
He added that a security review meeting was held in Srinagar with governor NN Vohra and chief minister Mehbooba Mufti. “We have chalked out a strategy and are also providing community bunkers in the border areas. Besides this, we have set up camps in schools, hospitals and other areas.”
