Attackers strike Korean auto firm, decamp with spare parts

GURGAON: Six armed attackers struck a Korean auto company in Manesar in the wee hours of Saturday and decamped with expensive spare parts and imported equipment worth ₹50 lakh.

The accused struck around 2pm and entered the factory in Sector-8 Manesar after jumping over the wall, but were spotted by the guards, said police.

The accused, however, assaulted the two guards, held them at gunpoint and threatened to shoot them if they tried to raise alarm.

According to the police, the accused stayed in the premises for around half an hour during which four of them entered the factory and from there they took three large boxes of spare parts and expensive engine dyes used in manufacturing car parts.

A case was registered against unidentified persons on the complaint of sales manager Anil Mann at IMT Manesar police station.

The police, meanwhile, said that a case has been registered and the accused would be nabbed soon.

However, the officers admitted that due to the language difference they faced problems initially, but the case was registered after the Korean officials requisitioned the services of a translator to help them communicate with the police. Narender Kumar, station house officer, IMT, Manesar said that they received the information on Saturday morning and a team immediately reached the crime spot.

The CCTV footage of the incident has been obtained and efforts are on to identify the accused, he said.

Sources, however, said that the footage obtained from the cameras was not of good quality as there was darkness in the area. They said the faces in the footage are unclear.

Police also said that while one of the attackers was carrying a pistol, the others were armed with rods and wooden sticks. While two of the accused took the guards hostage, four others went inside the plant and lifted the spares and dyes.

Before leaving the spot, the accused, who were wearing masks, tied the two guards with a rope.
