BJP’s Jawahar, Shourie submit nominations from Drang, Banjar
KULLU/MANDI/SHIMLA: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jawahar Thakur filed his nomination from the Drang assembly constituency at the sub-divisional magistrate office at Padhar of Mandi district on Saturday.
Surender Shourie, a zila parishad member, meanwhile filed his papers from the Banjar segment.
BJP SHOWS UNITED FACE
BJP leaders from Drang showed united face as Thakur’s rival Ramesh Kumar asked the people to vote in favour of Thakur.
Member of Parliament from Mandi, Ram Swaroop Sharma, also accompanied Thakur and spoke to the people about the welfare policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre.
SATTI TRAINS GUN AT VIRBHADRA
A day after former Union minister Sukh Ram accused Virbhadra of ‘conspiring’ against him, BJP state chief Satpal Singh Satti praised the former for the ‘development’ in telecom sector.
Satti, in a statement issued here, said, “Sukhram has made several revelations about Virbhadra. He is known for his vindictive politics.
95 NOMINATIONS SO FAR
As many as 95 candidates filed their nominations on Saturday for the upcoming state assembly election.
Twenty-three candidates, including state Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma (Dharamsala), Congress rebel Vijay Singh Mankotia (Shahpur) and former ministers Romesh Dhawala (Jawalamukhi) and Sarveen Chowdhary (Shahpur), filed their nominations from Kangra district.
Fifteen candidates entered the fray from Mandi district, eleven nominees, including state Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri (Haroli) and state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti (Una), filed nominations from Una district, 10 from Shimla district, seven from Chamba, six each from Solan, Hamirpur and Chamba districts, five from Sirmaur and four from Bilaspur district. Thirty-two independents and covering candidates also filed nominations on the fifth day. The last day for filing nominations is October 23.
