‘Officials not acting against Congmen’
BATHINDA: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday slammed the Congress government for the “deteriorating” law and order situation in the state, saying demoralised officials are not acting against ruling party workers committing crime.
Badal had earlier called on Parminder Singh Kolianwali, son of SAD Muktsar district president Dyal Singh Kolianwali, who was attacked in Malout on Sunday evening and is now admitted to a private hospital in Bathinda.
He said the attack on Kolianwali’s son was not sudden, but was expected. The security of Kolianwali and his son had been reduced after Congress formed the government in the state and Kolianwali had raised the matter before the authorities and he (Badal) talked to the director general of police in this regard, he said.“Those who attacked Parminder had been openly announcing to eliminate Kolianwali and his son. They are people with criminal record. Such people think that it’s their own government and they can do whatever they want,” he said.
Badal, however, hoped that the district administration will do justice in this case.
The former CM said communal harmony and peace was ensured during the SAD-BJP government, but now the forces which don’t want peace were raising their head in the state. “It is up to the government how to control these forces but the deteriorating law and order is the real worry at present,” he said adding that the Congress has adopted the policy to divide and rule.
Kolianwali alleged that the attack was result of political vendetta as two of the accused Congress leaders had lost municipal polls to SAD candidates.
NO ARREST YET
MUKTSAR:A day after the attack on Parminder Singh, son of SAD district president and SGPC member Dyal Singh Kolianwali, the police failed to arrest any of the accused, including two Congress leaders. Police have booked Manpreet Singh Manna, Dhanpreet Singh Dhanna, and local Congress leaders Bakhseesh Singh and Shubdeep Singh Bittu, besides 13 unidentified persons for attempted murder.
