AMRITSAR : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, during his visit to the Golden Temple, here, on Monday accused the state government of adopting unfair means to book SAD leaders.

Disappointed by the defeat in October 11 Gurdaspur bypoll, Sukhbir refused to comment on the poor SAD-BJP show during elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state leadership had recently blamed Akalis for the defeat. Sukhbir ducked the questions pertaining to the elections. He also refused to comment on the allegations levelled by BJP for the defeat. “I won’t comment anything related to elections,” he said.

Criticising the government’s recent move of closing 800 primary schools in the state, he said, “Look what they are doing with the educational institutes. Everything can’t be operational for mere profit. To save money, this government will not even complete the development projects. The ministers are fearlessly resorting to unfair means.”

Talking about Navjot Singh Sidhu, Badal said that he should visit Amritsar. “Sidhu is unaware of the happenings here as he lacks interest in the public welfare. He should realise that this is not a laughter show.”

Badal refrained from commenting on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) event, to be held in Delhi on October 25 to mark 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.

Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, the RSS wing will organise an event at Talkatora indoor stadium in New Delhi.
