KARNAL: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said the state government is working for the development of villages and there is no dearth of money for development works.

The chief minister also laid the foundation stones of projects worth Rs 3 crore in Karnal and inaugurated a new building of one-stop centre for women in the city.

Khattar said the centre will provide all facilities to women, who have been victims of various kinds of violence. Since its inception on August 31, 2015, the centre was being run from the anganwadi training centre of the district women and child development office in Karnal.

The chief minister said that seven more one-stop centres for women will be set up in the state soon and later all districts will have such centres.

While reiterating his government’s commitment to devlopment of villages, he called upon villagers to fulfill their responsibility in maintaining the projects in their villages.

The chief minister also visited a private hospital to enquire about the health of BJP’s Nilokheri legislator Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi, who has been ill for the past several days.

FAMILY MEMBERS OF ACCUSED SE MEET CM

Meanwhile, the family members of Mahipal Singh, superintending engineer (SE) of Karnal municipal corporation (MC), whose daughter-in-law Atasha, 23, committed suicide at her parents home recently, met the chief minister.

They claimed that a false case of dowry harassment has been slapped against them by the family of Atasha. Sources said they demanded re-investigation in the case.

On Friday, the family members of Atasha had held a protest in front of minister of state Nayab Singh Saini demanding action against SE and his family members.

We have no dearth of funds for carrying out development projects in villages. But villagers should also ensure that these projects are maintained well thereafter. MANOHAR LAL KHATTAR, CM
