Closing ceremony: Nitish govt plans grand show in Patna
FUNCTION TO MARK THE END OF 350TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF GURU GOBIND SINGH WILL BE HELD IN PATNA FROM DEC 21 TO 25
PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said the concluding function of the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh will be held on a grand scale.
The Bihar government had organised the inaugural programme of the Parkash Parv on a grand scale on January 5 to mark the birth anniversary of the 10th Sikh Guru, who was born in Patna. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After inspecting tent cities being made for the birth anniversary celebrations, the CM held a meeting with office-bearers of the Takht Sri Harimandir Ji, Patna Sahib, and discussed the ongoing preparations for the event, to be held from December 21 to 25.
Addressing the media, Kumar said: “A grand Parkash Utsav will again be celebrated in Patna Sahib like the previous years. I request people from all sections of society, especially those in Patna, to help the state government make it as successful as last time. I have assured the parbandhak committee to provide all facilities for the event.”
The CM inquired about the progress of tent city where pilgrims will stay, langars, beautification of Kangan Ghat and other amenities like roads, power supply and toilets.
Officials informed the CM that construction of the tent city would be completed within 15 days.
Officials were asked to complete the beautification work at Kangan Ghat before the closing ceremony, besides constructing two langar halls — each having sitting capacity of 5,000 people, the release said.
He said there would be no function at Gandhi Maidan this time and the main function would be held on the Takht premises.
The Prime Minister and President Ram Nath Kovind are expected to attend the concluding ceremony.
Talking of his visit to the under construction tent cities, Kumar said: “This time, the number of devotees will be more then last time. I visited Bypass and Kangan Ghat tent cities where more than 40,000 devotees will be provided accommodation. A diwan hall is also proposed to be constructed on the Bypass tent city for devotees.”
“I have instructed the officials concerned to complete the work as soon as possible. The preparations are being monitored at the chief secretary level along with other senior officials,” he added.
General secretary of the parbandhak committee Sarjendar Singh said a meeting of all committee members had been convened on November 18 for the anniversary celebrations.
