40-year-old woman crushed to death by car in Phagwara

PHAGWARA: A 40-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding car in Phagwara on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Jaspreet Kaur,40, of Phagwara. Her relative Surjit Kumar received minor injuries in the mishap.

As per Rawalpindi police, on a complaint by deceased’s brother Sukhdev Singh, 54, a case was filed under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 289 (rash driving) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against unknown driver.

Police said that as per the complaint, a speedy car crushed Kaur who was on a bike.

Station house officer (SHO) Sikandar Singh said investigat­ion was on and they were scanning footages of the CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras to identify the car.

The body was handed over to the deceased’s family after autopsy.

1 KILLED IN AMRITSAR ROAD MISHAP

AMRITSAR : A 32-year-old man named Balwinder Singh was killed and his companion named Jarnail Singh was injured as their bike collided with a luxury bus on Jalandhar-Batala road. The bus was coming from coming from Jalandhar. The incident took place at 8 pm on Saturday. The victims were going from Batala side. Balwinder died on the spot and Jarnail was undergoing treatment at a hospital.
