IF PLAN A DOESN’T WORK, CHANGE THE PLAN, BUT DON’T CHANGE THE GOAL

- Vijai Pant Innervoice@hindustantimes.com

Every person has a plan in life and intelligent people even have a backup plan. It is said that the most successful people are those who are good at plan B. When you ask them the secret of their success, they say that a backup plan took the pressure off them.

If we compare these people with the ones who fail, we find that the latter never gave an alternative any thought. To have a plan B, while relentlessly pursuing your aim certainly has many advantages. Plan B becomes your temporary alternate career destination and consequently your de-stressing agent.

The feeling that you have an alternative propels you to chase your dream even more hungrily. It helps you in replacing any tentative feeling with determination and confidence.

It leads to a cool, calculative approach, which replaces the feeling of desperation at initial setbacks, thus improving your chances of success. You know that there is something to fall back on, in case things do not go the desired way.

However, a word of caution, one must not fall into the trap of letting plan B take away the focus from your main aim and dilute your belief in the success of your endeavour.

Remember if you don’t have a plan B, you don’t have a plan.

So, is your plan B ready?
