CHANDIGARH: In a new twist in the murder of a 15-year-old boy whose body was found inside a bed at his house in Rohtak’s Samargopalpur village, the police on Tuesday arrested his 19-year-old sister for allegedly smashing his head with a hammer and then slitting his throat with a knife.

Dharam, also known as Monty Singh, a Class 10 student, was found dead on Saturday at his house. His sister Kajal, who studies in Class 12, told police that their father Tejpal murdered Monty. Her version was supported by their mother Susheela, who said Tejpal had a troubled relationship with the children .

Based on their version, police had booked Tejpal on charges of murder. However, police said they found several loopholes in the story narrated by Kajal. Under sustained interrogation, she confessed to killing Monty.

“Kajal revealed during the investigation that she was angry with her brother for always telling their mother about her speaking to her boyfriend on phone. This would often earn Kajal her mother’s ire. So she chalked out a plan to get rid of Monty,” Rohtak superintendent of police Pankaj Nain said.

On Saturday, when Susheela had gone to work at a factory and Tejpal had gone to the fields, Kajal tricked her brother into sitting on a chair, and tied his hands and covered his eyes with scarves.

She then attacked his head with a hammer several times and slit his throat with a knife. Monty died on the spot.

Kajal then shifted Monty’s body inside a bed in their room and cleaned the blood stains on the floor. She then left her house and took a bus to Panipat, from where she called her mother to inform her that their father had murdered Monty and tried to kill her as well, but that she managed to escape.
