BARNALA : One person was killed and five injured when an autorickshaw they were riding was hit by a bus from the rear in Barnala on Tuesday.

The injured were rushed to the civil hospital from where Gurmeet Singh, a clerk in the deputy commissioner’s office, was referred to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital where he died.

The auto driver, Harmel Singh, and a data entry operator in the child development project office Harjinder Singh were referred to other hospitals.

Gurmeet’s colleagues alleged that no doctor was present in emergency ward of the civil hospital to attend to the injured. Employees unions have submitted a memorandum to the health minister through the deputy commissioner demanding disciplinary action against negligent doctors.
