Give me a buzz if officials seek bribe, Sidhu tells NRIs
LUDHIANA: Ensuring a corruption free and pro-industry atmosphere in Punjab with a dedicated single-window system to facilitate non-resident Indians (NRIs), Punjab local bodies, tourism and cultural affairs minister Navjot Singh Sidhu invited them to invest in the state.
Sidhu said corrupt bureaucrats are restraining NRIs from investing in the state. “NRI investors can file a complaint directly on my mobile number if any government official demands bribe from them,” he said.
Sidhu, who was in the city on Tuesday to participate in a twoday international conference at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, claimed that the state government would welcome NRI investors with open arms.
In an appeal to around twocrore Punjabi NRIs, the minister said the previous Akali-BJP government has continuously ignored the NRIs during their tenure but this is not the case under the Congress government.
