‘People with sick mentality behind crime against women’

KARNAL: Haryana State Commission for Women member Namrata Gaur on Tuesday said people of sick mentality are behind incidents of rape and murder and there is a need for an awareness campaign among the youth.

She said the youth, especially the teenage boys, must be sensitised and parents should spend quality time with their children.

Gaur said she had come to Karnal after she received a complaint from a local woman, who alleged threat from unknown persons.

“I have received a complaint from a woman who stated that some people are harassing her on the phone and they have also threatened her of dire consequences,” she said.

Gaur said the woman had also filed a complaint with the police but complained that she was not satisfied with the police action.

The panel member said she has taken up the issue with Karnal SP Jashandeep Randhawa and the police have assured her cooperation to the woman but she was not ready to come forward.

The police have already registered an FIR in the case against unknown persons.
