2 porters injured in army ordnance depot explosion

SRINAGAR : At least two porters were injured on Tuesday in an explosion in Anantnag district’s Kundroo, which houses one of the biggest ordnance depots of the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said that the explosion was accidental and have not identified the exact spot of the incident. Station house officer of the area Javaid Ahmad said they were verifying the incident.

“Nothing is clear yet,” he further said.

CIVILIAN SUCCUMBS TO BULLET INJURIES

A civilian, who had received bullet injuries during a protest at an encounter site in south Kashmir last month, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, police officials familiar with the matter said.

Mohammad Ayub Bhat, a resident of Shopian district’s Mulu Chitragaam area, received three bullet wounds when protesters clashed with security forces during an encounter at Bhatmaran village on December 19, an officer at Shopian police control room said.

Two militants and a civilian had died in the gunfight. HTC
