J&K: House panel formed to re­view univer­sity func­tion­ing


JAMMU : Jammu and Kash­mir leg­isla­tive coun­cil chair­man Haji Anayat Ali on Tues­day an­nounced to form a House Com­mit­tee to en­quire into the al­leged lapses in set­ting up of e-stu­dio and mega seed unit in the Sher-e-Kash­mir Univer­sity of Agri­cul­tural Sci­ences and Tech­nol­ogy of Jammu (SKUAST-J).

The chair­man made the an­nounce­ment while in­ter­ven­ing dur­ing the re­ply by agri­cul­ture min­is­ter Ghu­lam Nabi Lone Han­jura to the ques­tion raised by Surinder Chowd­hary.

Chowd­hary was not sat­is­fied by the min­is­ter’s re­ply and pointed out that only one of­fi­cer was made the scape-goat while many other em­ploy­ees also re­spon­si­ble for fi­nan­cial bungling roamed scott-free.

These em­ploy­ees must also be held ac­count­able, he added.

He al­leged, "There is largescale corruption in the univer­sity,” and de­manded set­ting of a House Com­mit­tee to re­view the over­all func­tion­ing of the SKUAST-J. Af­ter other mem­bers of PDP and BJP voiced their sup­port for his de­mand, the chair­man an­nounced form­ing of a House panel. HTC
