NC, Congress boy­cott J&K up­per house pro­ceed­ings

JAMMU: Op­po­si­tion par­ties, Na­tional Con­fer­ence (NC) and Congress, boy­cotted the pro­ceed­ings of the Jammu and Kash­mir leg­isla­tive coun­cil on Tues­day.

To reg­is­ter their protest, op­po­si­tion mem­bers staged a protest on Tues­day morn­ing by stag­ing a sit-in on the stairs of the leg­is­la­ture com­plex.

The mem­bers shouted slo­gans against the leg­isla­tive coun­cil chair­man Haji Anayat Ali and ac­cused him of be­hav­ing in a par­ti­san man­ner.

After NC leg­is­la­tor Sa­j­jad Kichloo was mar­shalled out of the House on Mon­day, the en­tire op­po­si­tion walked out of the house in protest.

The op­po­si­tion did not par­tic­i­pate in the dis­cus­sion on the bud­get as they have not at­tended the house since ques­tion hour on Mon­day.

The ef­forts by the trea­sury benches did not yield any re­sult and the op­po­si­tion did not re­turn to the house. The House later re­sumed after a 45-minute in­ter­val.

CONG WALKS OUT FROM J&K LOWER HOUSE

The op­po­si­tion Congress on Tues­day walked out of the Jammu and Kash­mir leg­isla­tive as­sem­bly, de­mand­ing de­tails about the projects be­ing un­der­taken in Ladakh to pro­mote tourism.
