NC, Congress boycott J&K upper house proceedings
Hold dharna, accuse legislative council chairman of bias
JAMMU: Opposition parties, National Conference (NC) and Congress, boycotted the proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir legislative council on Tuesday.
To register their protest, opposition members staged a protest on Tuesday morning by staging a sit-in on the stairs of the legislature complex.
The members shouted slogans against the legislative council chairman Haji Anayat Ali and accused him of behaving in a partisan manner.
After NC legislator Sajjad Kichloo was marshalled out of the House on Monday, the entire opposition walked out of the house in protest.
The opposition did not participate in the discussion on the budget as they have not attended the house since question hour on Monday.
The efforts by the treasury benches did not yield any result and the opposition did not return to the house. The House later resumed after a 45-minute interval.

The opposition Congress on Tuesday walked out of the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly, demanding details about the projects being undertaken in Ladakh to promote tourism.
