ED issues fresh summons to Karti in INX Media case
NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday issued fresh summons to Karti Chidambaram, son of Congress leader P Chidambaram, asking him to appear before it on January 18 in connection with its probe into the alleged money laundering in INX Media case.
The summons were issued after Karti sent his representative to appear before the agency for questioning on Tuesday.
“The first summons was issued for January 11. Even then his representative had come. We need more questions answered and so have issued fresh summons for January 18,” an agency official said.
The case pertains to allegations that Karti was bribed by INX Media for using his influence to manipulate a tax probe against the company. The tax case pertains to allegations of violations by INX Media while receiving foreign investment. The ED had filed the case in May 2017 against Karti, INX Media, and its directors Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.
