MUMBAI: Yug Tulli, 39, co-owner of Mojo’s Bistro, located inside the Kamala Mills compound where a blaze killed 14 people on December 29, was arrested by the Mumbai police on Tuesday.

He has been sent to police custody till January 20 by the Bhoiwada Court.

Tulli had been on the run, along with his newly wedded wife, for more than a week. He, however, claimed that he had surrendered to the police as his anticipatory bail plea was rejected in Amritsar.

“We have arrested Yug Tulli, after he surrendered himself before police today morning at the N M Joshi Marg Police Station,” said S Jaykumar, additional commissioner of police (Central). Tulli was spotted at Hyderabad airport with his wife on Sunday, sources said, but disappeared by the time the officers reached the spot.

The police had formed three teams to track him down.

Tulli is the co-owner of Mojo’s Bistro, along with Yug Pathak, son of retired director general of police and former Pune police commissioner KK Pathak.

Pathak was arrested in the first week of January after the fire brigade, in a report, said that the blaze had originated at Mojo’s due to the embers flying from a hookah and then spread to the restaurant, 1 Above.

Both have been booked under the IPC section related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

On Thursday, the owners of 1 Above, Abhijeet Mankar, and brothers Kripesh Sanghavi and Jigar Sanghavi were arrested from Bandra.

They, too, had managed to evade the police for a while.

Hotelier Vishal Kariya, who was arrested for sheltering the three accused at his home in Juhu, was granted bail by the high court.
