Irish singer-song­writer and front­woman of rock band The Cran­ber­ries has died aged 46


1 Her publi­cist re­leased a state­ment which said O’Ri­or­dan, who was in Lon­don for a record­ing ses­sion, died sud­denly. “Fam­ily mem­bers are dev­as­tated to hear the break­ing news and have re­quested pri­vacy at this very dif­fi­cult time,” the state­ment added 2 O’Ri­or­dan joined the Cran­ber­ries in 1990, and per­formed with them un­til 2003 when they went on hia­tus. Driven by her heart­felt vo­cals and her west Irish ac­cent, they be­came hugely suc­cess­ful 3 The band is most fa­mous for the po­lit­i­cally-charged sin­gle Zom­bie, an an­gry re­sponse to the deadly North­ern Ire­land con­flict, which hit num­ber one across Europe.
