MA­LIK GETS HIT ON HEAD, SUF­FERS CON­CUS­SION SYMP­TOMS

MUM­BAI: Pak­istan cricket team all-rounder Shoaib Ma­lik did not take the field af­ter suf­fer­ing from symp­toms of de­layed con­cus­sion dur­ing his team’s 4th ODI against New Zealand in Hamil­ton on Tues­day. Ma­lik was struck on the back of his head while tak­ing a run and the PCB said the crick­eter showed symp­toms of con­cus­sion in the dress­ing room af­ter­wards. “Shoaib was as­sessed by the match doc­tor and my­self,” Pak­istan team phys­io­ther­a­pist VB Singh said. “He did not have any symp­toms of a con­cus­sion and was able to carry on play­ing. Af­ter get­ting out, he was re­assessed and was show­ing de­layed con­cus­sion signs. He is do­ing well and is rest­ing. As ad­vised by the match doc­tor and Pak­istan team phys­io­ther­a­pist, he will not be tak­ing any fur­ther part in the match,” he added.
