Two arrested for Faridabad gang rape, hunt on for two others

NEW DELHI: The police have arrested two men from Rajasthan in connection to the gang rape of a 23-year-old woman, who was abducted and dumped in Faridabad on Saturday.

The two men, police said, were nabbed from their village at Bharatpur, Rajasthan about a four-hour drive from Faridabad. The suspects are Sanjeev alias Sanju and Arshad, both residents of Mewat in Haryana.

Assistant commission­er of police (crime) Rajesh Cheche said, “We got informatio­n about the two men hiding in Jurhera area of Bharatpur and sent three teams.”

Officer Cheche said police have identified two other men who were in the car when the young woman was abducted, but did not disclose their identity.

Police said one of the absconding suspect is a driver.

Police said accused Sanjeev is a dairy products supplier and Arshad was his helper. Police have also recovered the vehicle in which the young woman was abducted.

“The duo has confessed to having raped the woman and were drunk at the time of the incident”, a police spokespers­on said.

The 23-year-old woman was abducted from Rajiv Gandhi Chowk area in Old Faridabad. Her family learnt about the kidnapping because she was talking to her cousin on phone at that time when she was abducted. At around 9.15 pm she called her brother after being dumped from the car near Sikri village on Mathura Road.
