Stop playing politics over rape cases: CM to oppn

CHANDIGARH: Urging the opposition parties not to politicise the incidents involving heinous crimes against women, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday said the state government will take every step to ensure safety and security of the people.

“These developments (gang rapes and murder of women and minor girls) of past four days are very painful. I am personally very upset... these are condemnable developments. It is natural for all to be worried. I have given strict instructions to the police on the issue,” Khattar said, assuring that the government will take strictest possible action against the accused and the negligent cops.

The recent spike in the brutal crime against children and women across Haryana has brought the state government on back-foot.

The opposition parties are accusing the state government of failing in maintaining the law and order. The gory incidents such as rape and murder of two minor Dalit girls in separate incidents and gangrape of a woman in Faridabad in a moving car have given enough ammunition to the opposition to corner the BJP government.
