‘Issue concessional bus passes to elderly women’

JALANDHAR :The state government has directed the district administrations in the state to start issuing concessional bus passes to old women under the concessional bus fare scheme launched in 1999. The scheme provides for 50% concession in bus fare in government buses for women above 60.

The direction has been issued because the scheme has been non-functional for the past five years and no concessional pass to any beneficiary has been issued.As per the direction received by the deputy commissioner’s office here , the DC’s and district programme officers have been asked to create maximum awareness about the scheme.
