LUCKNOW: A Class 1 boy is recuperating at a Lucknow hospital after he was stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon allegedly by a senior girl student of the same private school here on Tuesday.

The victim, Hrithik Sharma, 6, told his parents that the girl took him inside the bathroom of Bright Land School in Aliganj’s Triveni Nagar and inflicted multiple injuries on him with a knife.

Hrithik suffered injuries on chest, abdomen and the left eye. “He is not out of danger and hence is under observation. We still need to decide whether to operate upon the injury in the abdomen but that will be done tomorrow,” said Prof Sandip Tiwari, in charge, Trauma Centre, KGMU.

While the incident took place on Tuesday, the school administration reported the matter to the police only on Wednesday after the victim’s picture began doing rounds on the social media.

According to police, the victim boy told his parents and the school authorities that a girl with “boy like hair style” took him to the bathroom on the second floor of the school building when he was going to attend the morning assembly around 10.20am.

“Before the attack, the girl told the boy that a teacher has asked her to punish him,” the boy’s father told the police. After attacking him, the girl locked him inside the bathroom and fled.

School’s director Rachit Manas said the incident came to light when the school’s discipline in-charge, Amit Chauhan, went on a round to see if every student was out for the morning assembly.

He said Chauhan heard screams of the boy from the bathroom and brought him out.

“We immediately rushed the boy to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to KGMU’s trauma centre,” said Manas, adding that the boy’s parents were also immediately informed.
