Hong Kong activist jailed for a second time for his role in mass pro-democracy protests

1 Wong, 21, who became the face of the 2014 Umbrella Movement, was on Wednesday handed a three-month sentence on a contempt charge for obstructin­g clearance of a major protest encampment, to which he pleaded guilty. He was already on bail pending an appeal over a six-month sentence for another protest-related offence

2 Ahead of the hearing, he said he had no regrets and vowed to keep fighting for democracy. “They can lock up our body, but they can’t lock up our mind,” he told reporters

3 Wong and another defendant were immediatel­y taken into custody at Hong Kong’s high court, while 14 others have received suspended sentences.
