Karnal boy Mohit Gupta tops CA final exam

KARNAL: Hard work and dedication helped Haryana’s Mohit Gupta top the all-India chartered accountanc­y examinatio­n held by the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of India.

“I am very happy with my performanc­e and I just want to give a message to youth that they can also achieve their aims in their life with hard work and dedication,” Gupta, a resident of Karnal’s New Pritampura area, said.

The Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of India released the results on Wednesday for the exam held in November last year, with 22.76% candidates clearing the test. The first three ranks were bagged by Gupta, who scored 73.38% (587/800), followed by Prashant and Aditya Mittal from New Delhi, who scored 71.38% (571/800) and 70.62% (565/800) respective­ly.

Gupta belongs to a middleclas­s family and lost his father about 12 years ago.

“My father Vinod Gupta was an accountant and I was only seven years old when my father expired but my mother Santosh Gupta and grandparen­ts gave me the strength to achieve my aim and stood behind me always,” he said.

“I just want to serve my country whatever the position I join in future,” he added

His mother said she had faith in her son and he proved it.

Gupta was a student of Delhi’s Ramjas College and studied in RS Public School in Karnal. His younger brother Subham secured the 44th rank in the same exam. ICAI said 39,328 candidates appeared for the Group I test in CA finals, of which 15.91% passed the test and of the 39,753 candidates who appeared for the Group II test, 15.11% cleared it. HTC
