SHIMLA: ‘Kherwadi’ is the new address of actor Anupam Kher’s house that he gifted to his mother Dulari Kher few days ago. The house is located in Jutog,13 kilometres away from the town.

Around five days ago, Kher family moved in to their new house and had a house warming party as well. However, the family has left for Mumbai after the celebration.

Kher, purchased the house in March last year, said her mother wanted to have a house in Shimla, where his family had spent years. Kher has also shared a video of the new house expressing his happiness that he could fulfil the dream of his mother to have a house in Shimla.

“We are in Shimla. Mom is the happiest person in the world in her new home. It was her dream to own a house here. Tomorrow we are performing the puja. We have decided to call the house Kherwadi,” Anupam had tweeted few days ago.

“Mom wants to show off & welcome you all to her new house Kherwadi. See how excited & happy she is. The best thing we as children need to do is make our parents happy. Because in return the only thing they wish is our happiness. We miss Dad. Hope you like our gift to Dulari,” his tweet further read.

“We have a strong bond with Shimla. We all wanted to have a house here and finally we have one. Our entire family was together and it was great to be in our own house in Shimla after so many years,” said Raju Kher, Anupam’s brother who is also an actor.

“It was an emotional moment for all of us especially for our mother to have a house in Shimla. She is really happy and plans to come back here in April,” he added.

Last march when Kher had bought the house, he had said, “Today I’ve come to Shimla. I’ve bought a small house here which I want to gift to my mother. And she is really happy. She has been tearyeyed since yesterday. She said this is the most beautiful thing that could have happened. I wish my dad was here.”

Kher’s bond with Shimla goes decades back when he was born in March 1955 here to a Kashmiri Pandit family. He completed his schooling from DAV School at Lakkarbazar. Kher also performed in various plays at the historic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla.
