OFFICIALS FIND NO ILLEGAL MINING IN SAND QUARRY

RUPNAGAR : The mining department has not found any illegal mining in Beinhara and Harsa Bela sand quarries where MLA Sandoa was attacked on Thursday. The report, a copy of which is with HT, says that Harsa Bela and Beinhara quarries were auctioned by the Punjab government in November 2015. The mining in the Beinhara quarry was stopped on December 20, 2017. Only Harsa Bela quarry was operationa­l in the light of a Supreme Court judgment of May 10, 2018. The report has been signed by Mohali general manager-cum-mining officer Tehal Singh Sekhon, who is in-charge of the Rupnagar area. Sekhon could not be contacted despite attempts.
