All medical colleges in HP will have trauma centres: JP Nadda

SHIMLA: All newly opened medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh will have super-specialty blocks, Union Health Minister Jagat Parkash Nadda said on Friday.

Nadda discussed status of centrally aided projects in Himachal Pradesh with chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday morning.

"Jai Ram Thakur-led government has speeded up all the projects being implemente­d in the state,” Nadda told media in Shimla .

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has special attachment with Himachal Pradesh and state government should avail benefit by sending detailed project reports of proposed schemes. He said Himachal has got four medical colleges and work of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bilaspur will begin in December.

He said that the constructi­on plan for hospitals is being readied. "All these colleges will also have super-specialty blocks, trauma center and two cancer units.

Nadda said that ₹18 crore have already been sanctioned for setting up trauma centres in the state and detailed project reports (DPRs) of these projects are awaited.

Nadda said the delay in setting up trauma centres in the state was due to the failure of previous government in submitting DPR.

CM MEETS UNION RAILWAY MINISTER

Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday met CM Jai Ram Thakur. Both the leaders discussed centre funded projects for Himachal. Thakur demanded Goyal to expand rail network in Himachal Pradesh.
