4 booked for gangraping woman in Tarn Taran
TARN TARAN: Bhikhiwind police have booked four persons for allegedly gangraping a 40-yearold woman of Khem Karan. The victim said four persons, two of them unidentified, sexually assaulted her on Saturday when she was on her way back home after meeting her relatives in Bhikhiwind‘s Sadran village.
The woman alleged that she directly went to Bhikhiwind police station and submitted a written complaint after the assault, but the cops did not take any immediate action. However, Bhikhiwind police said a case was registered on Wednesday after a thorough investigation.
Two of the accused have been identified as Balkar Singh and Bakshish Singh, alias Shisha, of Sadran village, police said.
In her complaint to police, victim said the accused abducted her and took her to an abandoned house in Sadran village where she was gangraped.
Talking to HT, the woman said, “The police told me that they would go to the spot to investigate the matter following which an action would be taken. The police did not even send any personnel with me when I went to Patti civil hospital for a medical examination.”
She alleged that the accused on Wednesday even reached the hospital and threatened her of dire consequences if she pursued the case.
Bhikhiwind SHO Manjinder Singh said, “We investigated the matter and registered a case after the woman’s medical examination.”
A case under Sections 376 (rape) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC has been registered against the accused, who are at large.
